Body-Solid Fusion Personal Trainer F500B vs F600B: Key Differences Explained

If you are considering a compact all-in-one home gym from Body-Solid, two of the most notable options are the Body-Solid Fusion Personal Trainer F500B and the Body-Solid Fusion Personal Trainer F600B. At first glance, these two home gym systems appear very similar. Both combine traditional strength stations with functional cable arms, use a selectorized weight stack, and fit a wide range of upper- and lower-body exercises into a relatively compact footprint.

However, there are several important differences between the two. The F600B offers a more advanced pressing system, a designated row function, and additional lower-body training capability. Meanwhile, the F500B focuses more on versatility and value while still providing a wide variety of exercises.

If you are deciding between the two, here is a closer look at what sets them apart.

Press Station Differences

The biggest difference between these two home gym systems is the press station.

The F500B uses a traditional 4-position Multi-Press Station. By adjusting the press arm position, users can perform chest presses, incline presses, shoulder presses, and chest-supported rows. This gives the F500B a very versatile design, since one station can be used for several different movements.

The F600B uses what Body-Solid calls a Bi-Angular Multi-Press Station. While it still offers four press positions, it is designed to create a more natural pressing motion and is focused specifically on chest, incline, and shoulder presses.

The F600B’s press system is also more specialized. While the F500B uses its Multi-Press Station for both pressing and chest-supported rows, the F600B separates these functions by using dedicated Row Arms.

What Does “Bi-Angular” Mean?

“Bi-Angular” can be a confusing term because both the F500B and F600B have multiple press arm positions. The “Bi-Angular” name is not referring to the back pad angle or to the fact that the press arm can be moved into different positions.

Instead, it refers to the movement path of the press arm during the exercise.

With the F500B, the handles move in a more traditional straight path. With the F600B, the handles gradually move inward as you press. This converging motion more closely matches the natural way your arms move during a dumbbell press.

The difference is most noticeable near the end of the movement, when the F600B’s handles come closer together while the F500B’s remain farther apart.

Row Function Differences

The F500B and F600B also approach rowing exercises differently.

On the F500B, chest-supported rows are performed using the same Multi-Press Station that is used for pressing exercises. This keeps the design simpler and allows one station to serve multiple purposes.

The F500B also includes a Foot Plate, allowing one of the Functional Training Arms to be used for additional seated row variations.

The F600B takes a different approach by including dedicated Row Arms. Rather than repositioning the press station for rows, the row movement has its own separate station. This makes the rowing motion feel more purpose-built and more similar to a dedicated chest-supported row machine.

For users who place a high priority on rowing exercises, the F600B’s dedicated Row Arms may feel like an upgrade. For users who prefer maximum versatility, the F500B’s integrated approach may be more appealing.

Lower-Body Training Differences

Another major difference between the two models is the Leg Developer.

The F500B includes a standard Leg Developer that supports leg extensions. This is useful for isolating the quadriceps and adding lower-body work to a full-body training routine.

The F600B includes a Dual-Function Leg Developer that supports both leg extensions and seated leg curls. In addition to training the quadriceps, it allows users to isolate the hamstrings without needing another machine.

For users who want more complete lower-body training from a single home gym system, this is one of the F600B’s biggest advantages.

Foot Plate

One subtle but important difference is that the F500B includes a built-in Foot Plate while the F600B does not.

The Foot Plate on the F500B helps support seated rows performed with one of the Functional Training Arms. Because the F500B combines multiple movements into fewer stations, the Foot Plate allows the Functional Training Arms to also be used for seated rows in addition to the chest-supported rows performed at the Multi-Press Station.

The F600B takes a different approach. Rather than relying on a Foot Plate and the Functional Training Arms for seated rows, it provides dedicated Row Arms, while the Bi-Angular Multi-Press Station remains focused on pressing movements.

Size and Space Requirements

The size difference between the two machines is relatively small.

The F500B measures 76" long, 48" wide, and 83" high, while the F600B measures 74" long, 51" wide, and 83" high. The F600B is also about 47 pounds heavier.

Although the F600B is slightly wider and heavier, the difference is unlikely to matter for most home gym spaces. Both models are still compact compared to having several separate strength machines.

Which One Should You Choose?

The Body-Solid Fusion Personal Trainer F500B is likely the better choice if you:

  • Want the best overall value
  • Prefer maximum versatility from the press station and foot plate
  • Plan to do a lot of cable-based and functional training exercises
  • Want one station to handle both pressing and rowing
  • Do not need leg curls

The Body-Solid Fusion Personal Trainer F600B is likely the better choice if you:

  • Want a more advanced chest and shoulder press motion
  • Prefer dedicated row arms instead of integrating rows into the press station
  • Want both leg extensions and leg curls
  • Want more specialized stations rather than multi-purpose stations
  • Are willing to pay more for the additional features and functionality

Final Thoughts

The F500B and F600B are both highly capable home gym systems that combine traditional strength training with functional movement in a compact footprint. Neither is necessarily better than the other, it simply depends on what type of training experience you prefer.

If you want the best balance of versatility and value, the F500B is probably the better fit. If you want a more refined experience with a converging press path and more complete lower-body training, the F600B may be worth the upgrade.
